Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Bayfront Health Punta Gorda are committed to providing safe, quality care for every patient. It is important to address remember the data used in this report dates back as far as July 2013. For example, patient fall safety data is from a collection period ranging 07/01/2013-06/30/2015. Since this time both facilities have put interdisciplinary teams in place that focus on clinical and nurse leader rounding, patient communication and bedside shift reporting. Beds are equipped with alarms, new call systems have been installed, and leadership and staff practice No Pass Zones, pledging not to pass any patient room that has their call light on. Also, we disagree with some of the data presented. For example, both facilities received my explanation a negative score for specially trained doctors care for ICU patients. Neither facility employs intensivists (physicians specially trained in treating critically ill patients) therefore we should have received a not available so as not to impact our overall score. The Leapfrog Group is one of several organizations reanalyzing data that is publicly reported, which results in different ratings on different sites. When choosing where to receive medical care, we encourage consumers to consider a variety of factors such as speaking with their physician about their individual care plan and by looking up safety and quality information for their state.
